Questions and answers

The basics

What is Wander Goose?

Wander Goose is a birding app for iPhone, built like a game. You go outside, spot birds, identify them by photo or by song and fill your Dex. Every bird you find moves into the Flocklands, an island of habitats where you can feed your birds and watch them explore.

Do I need to know anything about birds?

No. Wander Goose is made for beginners as much as for keen birders. Daily quests tell you what to look for, and Photo ID and Sound ID tell you which bird you found.

Is it on Android?

Not yet. Wander Goose is on iPhone first, and Android is next.

Does Wander Goose work outside Canada?

Not yet. The Dex, maps and "near you" data cover the birds of Canada. We're starting here, and more countries are on the way.

How old do I need to be?

You need to be at least 13. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission.

Finding and identifying birds

How does Photo ID work?

Take a photo or pick one from your photo library, and Wander Goose tells you which bird it is. A sharp photo where the bird fills more of the frame works best.

How does Sound ID work?

Open Listen and Wander Goose listens for songs and calls around you. Recognition runs entirely on your phone, and sound is never sent to us.

Wander Goose identified the wrong bird. What can I do?

Try a closer look on the result screen, or a sharper photo where the bird fills more of the frame. If it's still wrong, email us the photo and what you think it is at hello@proplrinc.com, and we'll use it to improve Wander Goose.

Why does Wander Goose ask for my location?

To record where you spotted each bird for your map and province, and to show which birds are likely near you. You can say no or change it later in Settings; Wander Goose still works.

Price and subscription

How much does Wander Goose cost?

Wander Goose starts with a 7-day free trial, then it's CA$7.99 a month or CA$39.99 a year. Prices are always shown in the app before you buy.

What's included in the free trial?

Everything, with daily limits: during the trial you get 3 photo IDs and 3 Listen sessions a day. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your subscription starts.

Is there a limit for subscribers?

Sound ID isn't limited for subscribers. Photo ID has a fair-use limit of 30 a day, which keeps Wander Goose fair and affordable for everyone.

How do I cancel?

On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your Apple Account, then Subscriptions. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel your subscription.

What happens if my subscription ends?

You keep your account, Dex and collection, and you can still look at them. Identifying new birds and some Flocklands features need an active subscription.

Can I get a refund?

Payments and refunds are handled by Apple, so we can't refund you directly. You can ask Apple for one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Your account and privacy

Does Listen record me?

Song recognition runs entirely on your phone, and sound is never sent to us. If you save a Listen session, the recording is kept on your phone only, so you can play back what you heard.

I changed phones. Will I lose my birds?

No. Sign in with the same Apple, Google or email account and your Dex, Flocklands and sightings come with you.

How do I delete my account?

In Wander Goose, go to Profile, then Settings, and choose Delete account. Your account, sightings and photos are deleted. You can also email us and we'll do it for you.

How do I contact you?

Email hello@proplrinc.com. We usually reply within two business days. Screenshots and your iPhone model help us fix things faster.

Your first bird is waiting.
